Emmy "MAD"ness

It has been a busy couple of weeks for us here at BHI, so much that we didn't have time to watch the Emmy's on Sunday night. Thank Goodness we TiVo'd the show. Unfortunately, we ended up fast forwarding through most of it. What was great news is that one of our favorite shows won! Mad Men has an amazingly talented cast and such clever dialogue. Also, one of our patients has insider knowledge about the show which makes us love it more. Congrats Mad Men! We will be watching this Sunday night faithfully!

Friday Fun From BHI

It's Friday so we decided to take a break and watch YouTube. We found another great video with the best song ever! Maybe this is BHI's new theme song? Just kidding.

BHI IS ALWAYS RIGHT!

We found an interesting article online today about the nature of tabloid magazines and when they are usually right and when they are usually wrong. One of the topics that they are usually right about is…PLASTIC SURGERY!

“No other publications are as good at chronicling the new noses and trout pouts of the rich and famous,” the article stated. “The downside is the tabs don’t know or even care if it’s a facelift or just a picture taken from a bad angle. They consider it accurate reporting if they can get a comment from a doctor who hasn’t treated the stars.”

Unlike the tabloids, BHI is almost always right which is why the media loves to ask our opinion. Because we pride ourselves on natural results, you won’t find our celeb patients in these magazines.

End of their Story

How sad, it turns out that one of our favorite shows will be done after their next season. While that won't be too soon, NIP/TUCK only has until early 2011 to air plastic surgery's wild side. Thankfully. BHI will still be around!

The 40% are welcome at BHI

A recent survey by Synovate found that almost half of women around the world would change their looks if they could. It said that while two thirds of all people say that beauty is not just about physical attractiveness, 40% would alter their looks if they had the funds. Overall, 35% of people worldwide attribute beauty to 'what's on the inside' and another 32% say it's all about confidence. At BHI, we agree that it’s 'what's on the inside' that counts but we know that confidence is increased when you feel good about yourself. So if that 40% has any questions about what they can do to feel confident on the outside, come visit us at BHI!

Holy Cosmetic Surgery!

A recent study claims that more than 55 million cosmetic surgery procedures will be performed in 2015. Sounds like business as usual here at BHI. For those patients who want to be part of the 55 million, remember to research your procedures and doctors thoroughly. Then come see us since we are the best around!

Never a Quitter

Joan Rivers was recently interviewed by Variety about her new show at the Geffen Playhouse called “Joan Rivers: A Work in Progress by a Life in Progress.” As usual, Joan is hilarious and we couldn’t help but laugh out loud when we read the three books that meant a lot to her.

Three books that mean a lot to me:

“Elephant Man”

“Cosmetic Surgery for Dummies”

“The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Cosmetic Surgery”

Joan is completely unapologetic about her use of plastic surgery to enhance her looks but we can’t help but think of her as an example of what not to do. At BHI, we believe in the natural and subtle improvements. People shouldn’t be able to tell that you had plastic surgery, just that you look amazing! Good luck with the show, Joan and if you want the natural look, come see us!

Not Unusual , Not At All

Sir Tom Jones has reportedly insured his chest hair for around $7 million with Lloyd's of London! Tom's spokesperson would not confirm. A source said, “Even at the grand old age of 67, the ladies love his hip-thrusting moves and catching a sneaky peak of his famously rugged chest hair."

At BHI, the ladies love Tom Jones and what we love is that he isn’t afraid to talk about his plastic surgery!

"I've had some nips and tucks," he admits, with a laugh and is not sure that he can resist another operation or treatment of Botox. "I don't know," he muses. "It depends on what I think needs doing."

Busy, Busy, Busy

Last week was a pretty hectic week at BHI, we weren’t able to post on some of the many exciting happenings going on. The Oscar nominations were announced, Madonna was spotted with some new bruises and of course, Hollywood’s Hottest Looks made front page news once again!

Pucker Up!

Who needs a new purse when you have the latest in lips? New images of Paris Hilton showing off her luscious (and somewhat overdone) lips while out last Friday night at Crimson are all over the web this week. Did you know that lips that are large indicate a person who has expensive and somewhat luxurious taste - but also an expressive and generous personality? At least that is what Astrology.com says. Sounds appropriate that her lips match her personality don’t you think?

For women and men that want to show off the best of their personality, having judicious lip augmentation tailored just for them is what we do best here at BHI.

Cosmetic Surgery for Cats?

Owners have been known to have their cat surgically altered to win first place in the competitive arena of cat shows. In cat shows, judges dock points for any imperfection they see in the cat. Thus, cat breeders and showers have been covering up their cats' imperfections for more than a century by using various techniques. By fixing the eyelids to make the eyes have a certain shape, tail docking, having the shape of the ear changed in some way, or using hair dye to change the color of the cat's body, they can raise their chances in winning the prize.

At BHI, we don’t do cats but who are we to judge? If CATWOMAN can have plastic surgery, so can her cat.

NIP/TUCK Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Dylan Walsh who plays Dr. Sean McNamara on NIP/TUCK. Dylan turns 44 tomorrow. What a great year for him and he doesn’t look a day over 40! NIP/TUCK continues to be on a winning streak this season. It is the #1 show on Basic Cable with women ages 18-34 and 18-49 for two weeks in a row. At BHI, we know how NIP/TUCK feels. We are #1 with women of ALL ages year round! Happy Birthday, Dylan and congrats on another fabulous season of NIP/TUCK.

CLEAVAGE-TASTIC!

Yahoo said that this image of actress Halle Berry attending the premiere of Things We Lost In The Fire in London on Wednesday Oct. 24, 2007, is one of the most viewed and emailed pictures of the day. One website even called her “cleavage-tastic” in her blue dress. We cannot disagree with that but we also know that Halle is naturally cleavage inclined and is even more so due to her pregnancy. Congratulations on the baby, Halle!

Unfortunately, not all women are able to achieve “cleavage-tastic” on their own. Some women have bony and irregular depressions between the breasts in the cleavage area. This is due to either being too thin, or being more pronounced after breast augmentation. At BHI, we developed a procedure called Cleavoplasty to correct the depression. Using a patient’s own body fat, Cleavoplasty plumps up the cleavage area, creating a full, smooth, rounded contour. Now all women can have the cleavage they want!

It’s in the Stars

We found it hard to believe but Michelle Pfeiffer played an aging hag hoping to find the secret of eternal youth in her new fantasy film, "Stardust." Michelle talked to the press in London about her thoughts on aging and plastic surgery in Hollywood and said that she doesn't see anything wrong with a little nip and tuck here and there.

We certainly agree, especially with someone as gorgeous as Michelle, that a little nip and tuck here and there is the perfect way to go for a rested and rejuvenated look. Too often people judge plastic surgery by the horror stories, but at BHI we provide happily ever afters.

Blame Canada!

While our title is a funny play on the South Park movie, we at BHI dislike these stories. They make our profession look bad and it’s another reminder for patients to check their doctor’s qualifications before undergoing anything as serious as surgery. In Canada, another fatal case has raised concern over cosmetic surgery procedures being performed by non-licensed plastic surgeons. According to reports, a Toronto real estate agent and mother had liposuction at the Toronto Cosmetic Clinic and died. She underwent the operation in a clinic that was run by a family physician, not a plastic surgeon.

Apparently in Canada, Canadian general practitioners may perform aesthetic surgery under less stringent rules than their certified plastic surgeon counterparts. We know that sometimes it is easier to go to the doctor with the discounted rates but surgery is no laughing matter and board certification counts! At BHI, we go through stringent Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care certification to ensure that our facility is safe for our patients.
